My Dream

I had the craziest dream...wanna hear it? Here it go:
I was sitting in summer school and class was taking a long time to end for lunch. This guy who lived across the street from me was getting frustrated. The teacher said something to him and it set him off but he didn't do anything. Class ends and I go to my car to get something to eat. When I come back, I park from the other cars. As I'm preparing to get out the car, I see the guy from across the street driving irratical. He spots our teacher and runs him down. He then runs him over several times. I'm sitting in my car tripping out then I get nervous because he might have saw me. I scooch down in my seat as he walks past and into the class. I then wait a few minutes and walk in real late. As the class proceeds, I begin to run off at the mouth and tell someone what I saw but told them that I wasn't going to go to the authorities. When class lets out, we all go outside. The police are out there and they are asking questions. Then one cop comes to the guy from across the street and takes him aside to talk to him. He is telling him that a witness saw him kill the teacher. The guy from across the street gets extremely mad and starts looking around to find out who saw him. I once again scooch down in my seat and he then knows! He rolls his eyes at me and drive off. I follow after him to tell him that I won't give a official statement. I catch up to him and he says to get on his motorcycle. We're driving and I am trying to calm him down. He seems calm but when we get to a fork in the road, he takes the wrong way to our house. I then instinctively know that he is planning to kill me. I try to turn the motorcycle to go the right way, but I fall off. He then pulls out a gun and begins to shoot at me. I scatter into a ditch. I then begin to watch it as an out-of-body experience. The guy follows after me, shooting everything. Then I realize that I have gone across the street, hiding underneath the sidewalk watching him look for me. He looks in my direction and comes over there. There is no place for me to run so dig deep into the dirt. The guy sprays gun fire into the sidewalk. There is no way I could have lived after that.
Time moves quickly and it is two years later. I am seeing my family and friends much older living life. The sidewalk has been worn down and is now a blanket. My arms and legs are visible; however, no one sees me. I crawl from the sidewalk and into Christyn's room. I look for a hiding place and realize that her closet is the best place for me. As soon as I get settled, she and Darrence comes into the room. They are solemn and quiet, opposite of what they used to be. I watch as they get their coats on to go somewhere. I accidently make a noise and fall out of the closet. Christyn looks at me and begins to tear up. She's fighting her tears and I hug her. We have a touching reunion. They thought that I was dead and even had a memorial service for me. As we are talking, we hear Mom coming. I go to hide but before I can close the closet door, she walks in and sees me. She is frozen, just staring at me. I blurt out, "Don't tell anyone that I'm here." She comes into the room and looks scared for me. She says that the guy who lived across the street from me lived with them. His name is Raymond, or something like that. She tells me to get in the closet and be quiet. As soon as I get in, he walks past the room and down the stairs which are directly outside the room. I get scared when I see him. He looks much older. He says that he would be waiting outside for everyone. When he leaves out the door, I leave the closet and walk into my parents room to hide in their closet. I see all of my other siblings. I have seen everyone except my Father. My Dad walks into the room and is trying to find a good outfit. He tries on everything in the closet and takes away my hiding places. So I am just standing in an empty closet. He is lying in the bed with Mom and he is talking to one of the kids and accidently calls them 'Carmen'. I think that he saw me but couldn't believe what he saw. To my amazement, he knew that I was alive and tells me that he would protect me. I leave the closet and tell him what I saw. I then realize that I saw Uncle Joe kill someone, too. He told me to tell on Raymond, but not Uncle Joe because he would get me back. I told my father that he could protect me and also the police. He told me that Uncle Joe would torment me. He would sit next to me and tear me down everyday, all day. He said that I was too young to understand it because it was called spiritual warfare. So I decided to leave Uncle Joe alone and focus on Raymond. I also asked them when Raymond was coming back. They told me that he was out for the evening. I then asked them how they knew that he wouldn't come back early and they said that they just knew. Just as I was relaxing, we hear Raymond coming in the door. Before I could close the closet door, he saw me and calmly asked me to come out. He told everyone that he wanted to talk to me privately. I said that I wanted my parents to stay. They told Raymond that they wanted his guns. He gave them up and we took out the clips and extra bullets. He then tried to explain his rationale for killing the teacher. He said that he and the teacher were friends and the teacher fronted him in front of some other teachers. That got him upset and he killed him. I woke up before I could finish the story. Ain't that crazy?!?

Did You Hear That?

CHAPTER ONE
The sky was pale blue, filled with large gray clouds. Quick flashes of lightening illuminated the sky.
As Kira walked out of her front door, she mumbled "God, I hope it doesn't start until after I get to work."
Kira puts on her headphones and begins to jog. As she jogs towards the swamp, the wind becomes cooler. Her quick breaths are now visible puffs of air.
She thinks, "Only five minutes more."
Just then, a large clap of thunder fills the air. She overhears it through her headphones and begins to jog faster. She turns the corner to see her office and begins to run. Just as she reaches the door, plump raindrops begin to fall onto the ground. Kira stands in front of the door trying to catch her breath when a deep voice rings in her ear.
"Did you get caught in the rain, pet?", the tall rugged man crooned. Kira twirled around to see Charles standing in the doorway. She started laughing at the six foot man holding a tiny umbrella. His clothes were completely soaked yet his umbrella was dry. As if he heard her thoughts, he explained the scenario.
"The rain started coming down before I had a chance to open my umbrella." He maneuvered around Kira and into the coat room. Kira noticed the musical play of his muscles through his drenched shirt.
"My God....he is beautiful," she thought to herself. She found herself staring at him as he dried off. A gentle hand on her shoulder brought her out of her fantasy.
Her best friend, Leslie, smiled and whispered, "Why don't you ask him out?"
Kira whispered back, "I can't!"
Leslie rolled her eyes and walked away. Kira stared a few moments more and whispered to herself, "I just can't!"

Chapter 2

Kesha told me that she really liked Chapter 1, so I am going to do Chapter 2 now....
"So, are you sure you want to go home?", Lisa asked.
As Janice put the last utensil in the packing box, she slowly turns her head towards the closed door in the back of the kitchen. She began to feel the quiet rage build inside of her. She choked back the tears that flowed so freely at night.
"Might as well. There's nothing left here for me. My baby is gone....and she was all that mattered to me."
Lisa didn't respond because she knew that was the grief talking and not her best friend. The friend she grew up with and loved like a sister. The pressure was beginning to build in the room and the doctor advised rest for Janice. She wouldn't be able to survive another outburst. Lisa bends down on one knee and quickly grabs Janice's hand.
"What about me? I thought we were getting married! Wait...", she gasps and whispers, "are you breaking up with me? You know I have a bad heart."
"Girl, you are so crazy! You know that I wouldn't do that to you...unless Taye Diggs came into my life", she laughed.
She flashed a wide smile at Lisa, trying to mask the pain that kept nagging her. The tears began to slowly stream down her face. She wanted to forget and make it like it was before that horrible night when her whole life changed.
"Besides, my mother needs me and I need her", she whispered through the plastered smile on her. "Let's get these boxes on the truck before they charge Mike an arm and a leg for rental."
They both grabbed the last two boxes and headed towards the rental u-haul truck parked in front of the brownstone. Mike was sitting in the driver's seat listening to his new demo tape. Lisa whistled to get his attention, but he was engrossed in the music. The women looked at each other with a knowing look while placing the boxes into the back of the truck. The truck was already filled with furniture and boxes.
"When are you going to give me that antique desk?", Lisa teased.
"When you clean up that nasty place you call home", Janice teased back.
They heard the truck start up and latched the back of the truck.
"That means that lazy nephew of yours saw us struggling with those boxes. Men!", Lisa fussed over the loud engine.
"You know how he is. He hasn't changed since he was a little boy. Always lazy. He was even too lazy to go to the bathroom."
The women laughed as they headed back into the house. They could feel the impatient glare from Mike. He began to honk the horn, but they ignored him and shut the door.
Janice headed straight for the closed back room beyond the kitchen. She just wanted to say good-bye one last time. She cautiously opened the door that had been closed for three weeks. Her body began to feel weak as the stuffy air poured out the door. She could still smell the jasmine and rose perfume Angel used to wear. The room was empty yet full of Angel's presence. Janice stood in the corner of the room and looked where the bed used to be. The quiet rage began to fight for freedom.
Janice leaned against the wall and calmly whispered, "Angel, I'll never understand why you did what you did, but I forgive you for leaving me. And I miss you."
A Godly peace entered Janice and she felt enough strength to exit the room. She closed the door and headed to the truck. Lisa was outside arguing with Mike over the quickest route to Jaspterville, Arkansas. Mike quickly jumped out the truck and opened the passenger side door.
"Sorry, Auntie J. I was being selfish and inconsiderate by not helping you with the last two boxes. I apologize," he half-heartedly mumbled.
Janice ignored him and grabbed her best friend for a last hug. She felt the peace of God embrace her through Lisa. They had so many memories together. Kindergarten, high school, parties, graduation, salvation, church, striving to live holy and single, marriage, childbirth, ministry, divorce, and death. Now they were to be separated. What would Janice do if the quiet rage attempted to overtake her and Lisa isn't there?
"I'm going to miss you so much. But I will be blowing your phone up. And will be the occasional visits - on both of our parts!", Janice joked.
"Girl get out of here already! Let me get a chance to miss you," Lisa responded.
Janice climbs in the truck and looks at the "FOR SALE" sign in front of her brownstone. She thought, "So many memories..." as the truck drove down the street and out of sight.

Chapter one

"Don't tell anyone what just happened, ok? If you do, he'll find out and kill my mommy. Swear between friends, ok? O.K.?!?"

The frightened young girl looked at her chubby best friend with a look of desperation. The chubby young girl quietly agreed to the secret pact. She didn't understand why she couldn't tell anyone, especially since the secret hurt her best friend so much that she frequently cried in the attic. As she assured her friend that the secret would remain between them only, she sadly tucked the weak and sobbing girl in the bed.
"You're an angel, Angel. Always remember that. And also remember that I love you."
As she whispered those words, tears began to stream down her face. Angela Brown used to be a very vivacious and outgoing. Now all she seemed to want to do is sleep and cry. She missed her best friend.
"I love you too, Leelah.", she whispered.
Leelah slowly walked out of Angel's room and out the front door. She had walked home many times but this time she felt lonely. She's felt lonely for some time now. Angel had been absent from their friendship for some time now. Many questions ran through her mind as she thought about the gradual transformation of her best friend. She couldn't believe that Angel had been holding that secret for two years. How did manage to be normal with that going on? Just then, a cold chill swept over her body and she began to run as fast as she could. She didn't know why she was running but she felt that she could outrun the past with each sound of her sneaker hitting the concrete. Her lungs began to burn. How long had she been running? Where was she? She stopped and looked around. She was home. Her legs were numb as she climbed the stairs to her house.
Ring...Ring....Ring....Ring...
Leelah hurries through the door and grabs the phone. "Hello?", she huffs.
"Who is this? Hello? Police?", the frightened voice called out.
The voice sounded familiar which alarmed Leelah. "Who is this?" she asked.
"Leelah? It's Auntie Janice! Why are you playing on the phone? Janice angrily yelled. "Hang up! I'm trying to call the ambulance." With a quiver in her voice, she whispered, "Something's happened to Angel...ohmigod..." She began to loudly sob.
Leelah dropped the phone and looked out the door. What happened? she thought. The room turned black as she slid towards the floor. Later that night, Leelah and her mother would receive news that would forever change the rest of their lives.
To be continued....
